Compensating cables
34 versions for types B, J, K, L, N and S to DIN EN 60584 — from PVC to glass fibre, −60 °C to +400 °C.
The compensating cable extends the thermocouple to the reference junction. Its cores are not made of the thermocouple material itself but of cheaper alloys with the same thermoelectric voltage up to around +200 °C. That is enough as long as the cable itself does not get hot — and makes the connection considerably cheaper than a thermocouple cable.
If the cable itself gets warm, or if it is to hold the same accuracy over the whole range, a thermocouple cable belongs at the measuring point instead.
