Thermocouple cable sensor with a permanently attached cable
Cable sensors have no connection head. The cable is permanently attached; the sensor is glued, clamped, screwed in or pressed against a bore by a bayonet cap. That makes them small, fast and inexpensive — and at the same time means the cable has to withstand the temperature where it is installed.
We make the sensors in Hanau to your dimensions: sleeve and cable length freely selectable, type J, K, N or T to IEC 60584-1, measuring junction isolated or grounded.
Which design suits your installation?
| Installation | Form | Typ | Key figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Immersing, gluing, clamping | Stainless steel sleeve with thermocouple cable | TML-KF | Ø 3 – 8 mm |
| Tool and nozzle bores | Spring and bayonet cap | TBF | Ø 3 – 8 mm |
| Tool, lateral outlet | Bayonet, bent at 90° | TBF-90 | Ø 3 / 6 mm |
| Plain bearings and bearing pads | Embedded sensor in a metal sleeve | TML-LG | Ø 2,0 – 7,0 mm |

What matters with the cable
With these sensors the cable is the limiting part, not the measuring element. PVC withstands 105 °C, silicone 180 – 200 °C, PTFE and PFA 260 °C, glass fibre with a stainless steel braid 400 °C. If the cable lies in the hot zone it has to match the operating temperature — the configurator points this out.
A stainless steel braid protects against abrasion and crushing, an anti-kink spring against kinking right at the sensor. For use in water or splash zones the cable outlet is available watertight potted to IP67 or IP68 instead of crimped.
Special lengths, other sheath materials, connectors to your specification and a calibration certificate with freely selectable test points are standard, not an exception.
Other designs
- Cable sensors as a resistance thermometer — more accurate and more stable over time up to +400 °C
- Sheathed sensors — bendable, without a sleeve, for very tight installation spaces
- Thermocouples with thermowell — with connection head, replaceable measuring insert and process connection
